Who we are
Here's the deal, Awaken Church cares about one thing more than anything else, bringing glory to God. Awaken is a family of individuals that have found hope and life in Jesus. We simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.
We believe that the Christian life and the church collectively has three primary functions
Worship, community, service. We use the terms UPward, INward, and OUTward. We believe that a life transformed by the Gospel should naturally respond to God's grace in these ways. As our knowledge of God increases through his word (the Bible) and our experiences, we should desire to see an increase in our response to God . When all three are present in our life, God is glorified and we experience a deep lasting Joy in Jesus. For example, a Christian that reads their bible, worships privately, and serves others, but is disconnected from a local church won't experience the fullness of life Christ offers us. We're not perfect, but we strive have these 3 elements in our lives and in our church consistently.
Where we come from
Awaken Church was started in 2017 by a 15 people. In 6 months we've moved from a living room to a gym; A gym to a small meeting room; From a meeting room to our now permeant location!! It's been a journey but our desire hasn't' changed. We've always imagined a church that was truly welcoming to everyone - where everyone had a seat at the table regardless of personal history or background. We want to meet people where they're at just like God does. But we also want to see the truth of the Gospel awaken hearts and lives to the reality of God's holiness and His tremendous grace and mercy to those who believe in the name of Jesus.
Where we're headed
What's the bottom line? More than ever, Awaken Church is committed to fostering a family built around hope, truth, and grace. Our goal is to cultivate a culture where lives are transformed. A place where passionate worship in pursued, relationships are deep and genuine, and our service to Juneau is unbelievable. We want to be a church that is UPward, INward, and OUTward.
